On August 2, 2024, the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) was awarded the prestigious “Best International Tourism Board” title at the Global Tourism Awards. This annual event, hosted by Travel World Online (TWO) in New Delhi, India, celebrates organizations that make exceptional contributions to the tourism industry, helping shape its future and drive positive change.

The award was proudly accepted by Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of SLTPB, with Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando joining as the Guest of Honour. This prestigious award was decided by a jury led by Nakul Anand, a respected former Executive Director at ITC.

SLTPB’s Managing Director, Nalin Perera, expressed gratitude for the recognition, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of the entire tourism industry in Sri Lanka. He emphasized the continuous efforts to promote Sri Lanka as a top travel destination, which has been further boosted by endorsements from international media and travel influencers.

This achievement reflects the growth of tourism in Sri Lanka, which has already welcomed over 1.19 million visitors as of July 31, 2024 – a remarkable 56% increase from last year. With a target of 2.3 million tourists by year-end, Sri Lanka continues to shine on the world stage as a premier destination, offering unique experiences and unforgettable adventures for travelers from all around the globe.
